Career Blog Post - Clinical Environment Designer

  • Jan 6
  • 1 min read

A clinical environment designer is someone who has undergone the proper training and done research into design and health to help lay out a healthcare space. They should have a Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC), which proves they know how to use their research to apply specific design elements to healthcare spaces. To maintain an EDAC certification, it involves six hours of approved continuing education units (CEUs) in evidence-based design every two years. While higher education and/or significant experience are not required, they are common and strongly recommended. Higher education could be in either design, or a healthcare field. Top colleges for design include; Duke, University of Pennsylvania, University of California, Los Angeles, and Carnegie Mellon University.
